The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that the phrase “under God” does not violate the religious beliefs and the rights of a family of atheists whose children attend a school in the Acton-Boxborough regional School District.
In writing for the unanimous ruling, Chief Justice Roderick Ireland wrote that “The daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance does not violate Article 1 of the Massachusetts Declaration of Rights.”

The principal at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, is facing a hailstorm of criticism from some very angry parents and residents.
The school recites the Pledge of Allegiance weekly, on Mondays. Last Monday, a member of their “Cultural Arms Club” led the student body in an Arabic version of the pledge, replacing the words “under God” with “under Allah.”

A Madison, Wisconsin high school has taken it upon themselves to change the Pledge of Allegiance for their school into a more atheist-friendly version, replacing the words “under God” with “under peace.”
