In an interview on WTHI in Indiana, Suzanne Jaworowski, the communications director for Sunrise Coal, puts the impact of the EPA’s new regulations on emissions which were announced this week into perspective.
She says, “This is essentially an attempt to eliminate one of our two most abundant resources for producing electricity in the country.”
She reminds us all, including our fellow electrical consumers who may not have been paying attention, of the consequences, adding, “If the cost of electricity goes up, and the estimate is eighty percent, then the cost of bread will go up, the cost of everything in between will go up.”
Jaworowski points to the supposed goal of the EPA to be “To go as close to 0% Co2 emissions as possible in the power industry. And their regulations are to create a thirty percent decrease in Co2 emissions from coal-fired electricity.”
The first ripples are beginning to be felt from this draconian policy which will have no discernible positive impact, but a tremendously destructive negative one.
She says it’s hard to forecast exactly what will happen here, at our mine. She adds, “We will sell our coal where our coal will be bought.”
Her company will be forced to sell its coal internationally, to countries with less stringent restrictions. That negates the EPA’s argument of any supposed improvement and creates what, if one was to be gullible enough to believe their “scientific” claims, would be a less clean environment globally. The air and atmosphere do not respect national boundaries.
Rather than being used locally, the American coal will now need to be transported, adding to the supposed global “environmental impact.”
This is simply more evidence that the people running this country are only interested in ruining this country.
